Presentor's Note:
The format will be a mixture of lecture, demonstrations, hands-on lab, and general discussion and Q&A.
During the hands-on sections we'll deploy several diverse applications to the cloud and use some powerful tools to monitor and manage them. You're welcome to pair with another attendee, or you can do the work on your own. Or feel free to just observe.
Each pair/individual will need a laptop capable of running. For best results these should be installed in advance.
* a relatively modern browser (Chrome or Firefox preferred)
* an git client
* putty if you're on Windows
Optional:
* download the latest version of Stackato, and the Stackato client
* bring your favorite IDEs (Intellij IDEA, Komodo, Eclipse, NetBeans, etc.)
* bring source code for any app, in any language, must run on linux
* install VirtualBox or VMWare
* bring some ideas for an app you'd like to build
I will not be handing out slides. First, I don't like to mow down all those forests for the paper, and second, I tend to go through lots of slides very rapidly, so by lunchtime your arm would be so exhausted from flipping you wouldn't be able to lift your fork.
This will be fun. I have a couple of ambitious goals for Saturday that, if we can pull them off, I think you'll quite enjoy.
